Antiques at The Gardens Brings Larger Than Life Personalities to Birmingham BIRMINGHAM, AL–Birmingham Botanical Gardens' fourth annual Antiques at The Gardens: Heirlooms in Bloom presented by Regions Financial Corporation is almost here; Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4 to be precise. The glamorous First Look Party presented by Sterne Agee kicks off the weekend-long event on Thursday, October 1 from 7-10 p.m. The elegant evening is an annual highlight of the fall social scene in Birmingham. Party-goers enjoy drinks and hors d’oeuvres, catered by Kathy G, and shop before the sale begins on Friday. Featuring dozens of dealers from across the nation and lectures from world-renowned speakers, The Gardens’ antiques show is among the best in the nation. Author and designer Renny Reynolds’ lecture, presented by flower Magazine, on October 2 at 10:30 p.m. is certain to be a party. Reynolds is an expert in entertaining and gardening. He is also author of the popular book The Art of The Party, not to mention columns in Elle Décor. His work has been included in everything from Architectural Digest and House & Garden to W and New York Magazine. In 2008, Renny was given the “Great American Gardener” Award by the American Horticulture Society, which explains why he is always in demand as a speaker and designer. On Friday, October 2 at 1 p.m. Alabamian Richard Keith Langham, presented by Red Diamond, comes home and takes us to school (design school that is). Born in Brewton, Alabama, interior designer Keith Langham is a graduate of the world-renowned Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where he received a degree in interior design. He also studied at Parson’s School of Design in New York and the Study Center for the History of Fine and Decorative Arts in London. His experience includes international clientele ranging from the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to Mrs. William F. Buckley to Hillary Swank. Langham is known for utilizing color and comfort with simple English-sensibility to achieve a style all his own. Lecture tickets are $25 each.
